Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, has reported that its traffic decreased 4.7% to 1.34 billion revenue passenger miles in January 2009, compared to 1.41 billion revenue passenger miles in January 2008.
The airline's capacity decreased 8.4% to 1.88 billion available seat miles (ASMs) in January 2009 from 2.05 billion ASMs in January 2008.
Passenger load factor was 71.7%, up 2.9%, compared to 68.8% in January 2008. Revenue passengers decreased 9.7% to 1.13 million, compared to 1.25 million in January 2008.
Horizon Air, a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, has announced that its traffic decreased 18.5% to 167 million revenue passenger miles in January 2009, compared to 205 million revenue passenger miles in January 2008. Capacity decreased 16.4% to 265 million ASMs, compared to 317 million ASMs in January 2008.
Passenger load factor for January 2009 was 63%, compared to 64.7% in January 2008. Revenue passenger volume decreased 14.5% to 501,000, compared to 586,000 in January 2008.
